HOSPITAL BIRTH WITH NURSE MIDWIVES

Nurse-Midwives are registered nurses with advanced training in midwifery and women’s health care. They can provide a woman-centered childbirth experience in a hospital setting. With a nurse-midwife as your care provider, you can walk in labor, move around, eat, drink, push in any position and have your baby with you after birth. Families, including siblings may be welcome in the birth room as well. If you have Medi-Cal, and would would like a homebirth or birth center delivery, unfortunately this option is not available to you in Los Angeles County, as Medi-Cal does not cover homebirth and there are no freestanding birth centers in the region which take Medi-Cal. The best option you have is to go to one of the hospitals  in Los Angeles County which take Medi-Cal and employ Nurse-Midwives. If you have PPO  insurance, Nurse-Midwives are covered. Kaiser HMO plan covers Nurse-Midwives at Kaiser facilities.

The nurse-midwives in this group provide care based on the midwifery model; employing minimal intervention, the judicious use of technology and shared decision-making. Our physician partners are proud of their association with us and support our philosophy of care, and are committed to being immediately available for guidance and assistance should the need arise, including support for VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean section) labors. The superior resources of UCLA Medical Center are available to all our women and families, from sophisticated fetal testing to the most compassionate and skilled nursing staff. We offer free consultation visits as well as preconception care. We accept most forms of insurance and Medi-Cal.
