Make An Informed Choice: Questions to Ask Obstetricians
It is with tremendous sadness that we report that one of our favorite obstetricians, Dr. David Kline passed away on February 6, 2012. Dr. Kline was a champion of midwives and doulas and with dedication he supported and collaborated with them. He facilitated woman-centered childbirth and was one of those special docs who really cared about his patients and did his best to give women the births they wanted. We are so grateful to Dr. Kline for everything he did for the families and midwives of Los Angeles.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and staff. We are so sorry for your loss.
Rest in Peace, David Kline.

Dr Ben-Yehuda is married with two young children, and has been in private practice in the San Fernando Valley since 1998. “Having worked in both HMO and group environments in the past, I have built my current practice to be altogether different. Dedicating my practice to personalized care in a serene setting allows plenty of time to get to know my patients and to individualize their care For new patients, I offer one-hour appointments. Patients are never overbooked. I do not accept HMO plans. When appropriate, I offer VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section) to my patients. At the hospital, I arrive early to help coach my patients as they push in labor. I work well with outside labor coaches, doulas or other people whom my patients feel are important to have in the delivery room. I do all of the ultrasounds and blood draws in my office, so that patients don’t have to see an additional doctor, and I have the results immediately. I have found that by practicing this style of medicine, the delivery of medical care is more personal and rewarding for both my patients and myself”.
Watch this link of one of my patients who did a testimonial on her VBAC experience:
Finally, one of my recent medical newsletters focused on VBAC:
If you gave birth with an obstetrician who helped you have a natural childbirth and/or vaginal birth after cesarean, we want to know about it. Please Email us the name of the doctor you recommend! We believe that women of childbearing age “must have access to information that will help them choose maternity care providers and institutions that are most compatible with their own philosophies and needs” (CIMS, The Birth Survey).
Go to THE BIRTH SURVEY and check out what other women said about your doctor and how they rated the care they received. The Birth Survey is a consumer-report for childbirth, ensuring transparency in maternity care.
If you have given birth in the last two years, or know someone who has, please share your birth experience. Click here to invite a friend to take the survey or to view how other women rated your doctor.
We believe that women of childbearing age must have access to information that will help them choose maternity care providers and institutions that are most compatible with their own philosophies and needs. We hope that the Transparency in Maternity Care Project will provide information that will help women make fully informed maternity care decisions.
We also believe that maternity care practitioners and institutions must have access to feedback from their patients. We hope that doctors, midwives, and hospital administrators will find the information generated through the Transparency in Maternity Care Project useful in quality improvement efforts.
Women need accurate, objective data in order to make fully informed choices about birth settings and providers. Practitioners and hospital administrators also need data to evaluate whether they are delivering quality care. We hope this project will fill a void by providing much needed information that benefits all parties engaged in maternity care.
