About Breastfeeding Specialists

Breastfeeding specialists provide  a range of support for simple to complex breastfeeding issues , providing hands on support and education for common problems like sore nipples and low milk supply and complex problems like breastfeeding premature babies and breastfeeding with implants. Certifications include: Breastfeeding Peer Counselors (BPCs), Certified Lactation Educators (CLE), Certified Lactation Educators (CLE), Certified Lactation Educator Counselors (CLEC), International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC).

Breastfeeding consultation by phone, email or in person. Breastfeeding Education Classes can be in a 3-week 2-hour session format (private lessons) taught in your home or group 3 week series. Topics include: Benefits of breastfeeding, how the breasts make milk, keeping up your milk supply, how to know if baby’s getting enough milk, pumping and storage of breastmilk and dealing with common problems such as low milk supply, inverted nipples, fussy baby, engorgement, mastitis, and more. Call to schedule. Breastfeeding support by peer counselors offered for low-income  women who have Medi-Cal. Phone and in-person consultation in hospital or home is available by breastfeeding peer counselors.  Also offer  training workshop and certification program for Breastfeeding Peer Counselors.
