Hanna-Cheruiyot, MPH, CHES, CCE, CBA has helped hundreds of expectant parents prepare for their babies' births and has provided support to women in labor in all settings: hospital, birth center and home. Cordelia also offers referrals to Doulas, Postpartum Doula Support and Breastfeeding Consultation and Instruction.

Services Offered:
Prepared Childbirth and Breastfeeding Education Classes:
A four-week series of group childbirth preparation classes is offered, as well as private one-on-one instruction offered in the privacy and intimacy of your own home. Classes are customized to suit your interests and budget. Refresher classes and sibling preparation are available. Classes to prepare for birth center, water birth or home birth are available.
Class content includes labor-coping strategies (i.e., breathing, relaxation, etc.) labor support techniques for birth partners (i.e., massage, positions to facilitate a more comfortable labor, etc.), and information on choices for childbirth, helping you make informed decsions about your birth. The classes explore spiritual and emotional aspects of pregnancy and childbirth and will help you develop trust in birth and confidence your ability to give birth and breastfeed.
Postpartum Doula/Breastfeeding Education and Consultation Services:
Need help with breastfeeding before or after you bring baby home? Cordelia is available to give breastfeeding consutation in the hospital or your home. Breastfeeding Preparation Classes are available also. topics include positioning baby at breast, pumping and storage of breastmilk, coping with common problems such as sore nipples, low milk supply, etc. Postpartum Doula care is also offered, providing tender loving care to the new mother and her newborn child, enhancing confidence for caring for her baby and breastfeeding. Weekly and hourly rates are available.

Are you looking for a hospital where you can have a waterbirth? Do you have Medi-Cal and want a midwife? Are you wondering whether your insurance covers a homebirth? Considering having doula support? If you want answers to these questions and more, a Birth Options Consultation is what you need! Consultations are available in e-mail, by phone, or in person, to help you make informed decisions about your birth.
Also, referrals to doulas, doctors supportive of natural childbirth, hospital-midwives and homebirth midwives are available.

Laura is an ethnographic filmmaker and photographer with a Master's Degree in Visual Anthropology from U.S.C., and a homebirth mother.In the 80s, she worked as a midwife's assistant, doula and childbirth educator. Laura's film, "Blessing the Way: A Ritual Transformation and Healing Through Pregnancy of Birth" explores the role of ritual ceremony in preparation for birth (as an alternative to the American baby shower) as a means to nurture the expectant woman, and facilitate her personal growth and healing during the childbearing cycle.
