Childbirth Preparation Classes

Prepare for Homebirth or Natural Childbirth in the Hospital or Birth Center, make informed childbirth choices, develop trust in birth, and improve your confidence for giving birth and breastfeeding and cultivate acceptance of unexpected outcomes. Birth Options Consultation

Learn about your options for childbirth. Choose your place of birth. Decide whether to have a midwife or doctor. Make informed choices for childbirth and create a birth plan. For couples or groups. Birth film or slide show shown. Referrals given. Phone or in-person consultation available.

Doula and Monitrice Support

Labor support can lower your risk of cesarean, decrease medical interventions, decrease your need for pain medication, decrease postpartum depression, enhance mother-infant bonding and improve satisfaction with your birthing experience (according to studies by Kennel and Klaus). Basic Doula Support or Monitrice/Enhanced Labor Support is provided by Wholistic Birth Support doulas and monitrices (midwives and nurses providing labor support) who are hand selected and trained by Cordelia to help you manifest the birth you desire.

Postpartum Doula Support

Nurturing the new mother and newborn child with tender loving care. Breastfeeding support, meal preparation, physical support of mother and infant, emotional support enhancing the new mother's confidence to care for her baby. Breastfeeding Preparation Classes and Consultation

Consultation, education and Instruction for breastfeeding in hospital, home or by telephone. Breastfeeding education classes available include topics of positioning of baby at breast, benefits of breastfeeding, pumping and storage of breastmilk, coping with common problems such as sore nipples, low milk supply and engorgement, and more. Fertility Awareness and Preconception Health Class

Learn how your menstrual cycle works. Discover your fertilty signs. Learn Natural Family Planning methods to enhance getting pregnant or to avoid pregnancy naturally. You hold the key to you baby's health--before he's born. Learn guidelines for pre-conception health. Classes can be tailored for teenagers. Group or private sessions offered.

Become a Doula or a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF WHOLISTIC BIRTH SUPPORT AND CHILBIRTH EDUCATION

Cordelia Hanna-Cheruiyot, MPH, CHES, CCE, CBA

Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Birth Assistant, accredited by ALACE, who, since 1991, has taught hundreds of couples and attended births as an Assistant Midwife and Doula/Monitrice in hospitals, homes and birth centers. She has a Masters in Public Health (MPH) in Health Education and Promotion/Maternal Child Health from Loma Linda University. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) acredited by NCHEC. She is also a wife and mother of two home-born children.
