Seannie's journey to midwifery began with her own pregnancy and homebirth. Seannie opted for midwifery care and home delivery, and was blessed with an experience so profound that it changed her life forever. After her second baby was born, she felt called to make a deeper commitment to a model of care that promotes the empowerment of women through the experience of natural childbirth. Seannie trained with the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (ALACE) and became a Certified Labor Assistant. She became well-known as an excellent birth doula and spent time teaching prenatal yoga at Golden Bridge yoga studio in Hollywood, California. In addition, she initiated her study of midwifery by attending seminars and classes and became rooted in the local midwifery community. Combining this training with her own unique childbirth experiences and her innate abilities, Seannie helped many mothers have joyful, natural deliveries within the hospital environment.

In 1998, Seannie met midwife Shelly Girard and became her full-time assistant and student. From the start, it was as if Shelly and Seannie had known each other for ages, their philosophy and goals being highly compatible. As a teacher, Shelly gifted Seannie with thirty years of experience and knowledge; as a student, Seannie helped Shelly refine her skills as a teacher.

Seannie comes from a medical family, and got her first medical experiences working in the back office of her father's Neuro-Surgical practice. She received her Bachelor¹s degree from UCLA in Classical Civilizations. She completed an individualized program in midwifery and got her clinical experience under Shelly Girard, receiving her state license through the Seattle Midwifery School California Challenge mechanism. In addition, she holds national recognition as a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives. Partnering with Shelly Girard, Seannie provides homebirth services, breast-feeding support, well-woman care, nutritional counseling and pre-conception counseling in the greater Los Angeles area. In addition, she offers enhanced labor support/monitrice services for women planning hospital births, and is a preceptor at the National College of Midwifery, balancing the training of tomorrow¹s midwives while continuing to offer loving care and guidance to the mothers.
